New Moto G Power 5G & Moto G 5G Officially Announced By Motorola For The Year 2024 With Decent Upgrades

Motorola has recently announced its latest additions to the lineup of affordable 5G smartphones for 2024, unveiling the Moto G Power 5G and Moto G. These models are set to hit the shelves in the US and Canada in the coming weeks, expectedly by the end of this month or early next month.

The Moto G Power 5G (2024) presents notable enhancements, particularly in its display size, now stretching to 6.7 inches, a slight increase from the previous year’s model. However, it retains its IPS LCD technology with FHD+ resolution and a commendable 120Hz refresh rate, omitting OLEDs. Notably, both phones feature stereo speakers boasting Dolby Atmos support and include 3.5mm headphone jacks. In terms of photography, there’s a significant leap with the inclusion of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for the 50MP main camera, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide lens doubling as a macro camera. Additionally, the front-facing camera sees an upgrade with a 16MP sensor. Under the hood, the devices are powered by the Dimensity 7020 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh but offers faster charging with a doubled wired charging rate of 30W and the addition of 15W wireless charging, marking a first for the Moto G series. The Moto G Power 5G will be accessible through various US carriers starting March 22, including T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and others, while it will be available in Canada from April 12. Unlocked units will be purchasable from Motorola.com, Amazon US, and Best Buy US starting March 29. Both new models feature NFC connectivity, absent in their 2023 counterparts, and launch with Android 14 out of the box. While lacking proper water resistance, they retain Moto’s water-repellent design, with some variants sporting vegan leather backing.

On the other hand, the Moto G (2024) stands as Motorola’s inaugural device to utilize the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, promising improved performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 480+. Despite sporting only 4GB of RAM (with 4GB extra virtual RAM), this budget-friendly 5G model offers 128GB of storage and retains microSD support. Its display remains consistent with the previous model, featuring a 6.6-inch LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate but limited to HD+ resolution. The camera setup sees minimal changes, with a 50MP main sensor and a dedicated macro camera, complemented by an 8MP selfie shooter. The battery capacity remains unchanged at 5,000mAh, supporting 18W wired-only charging. The Moto G (2024) will debut in the US market on March 21 through T-Mobile and Metro, followed by availability across various carriers and MVNOs, including Cricket, Boost Mobile, Verizon, and others.
