Poco’s Flagship-Killer Phones In Early 2023 Review: Poco F5 Pro & Poco F5

Xiaomi’s Poco F-series is known for being an Android flagship-killer. Three RAM configurations and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU are included with the Poco F5 Pro. It may appear familiar since it is effectively the Redmi K60, which is available solely in China, but with Google Services and a somewhat smaller battery. The screen is 6.67″ AMOLED with WQHD+ resolution, or 3200 x 1440 pixels with 526ppi, making it the Poco smartphone with the greatest pixel density ever. The panel offers 480Hz touch sampling rate and 120Hz refresh rate. Underneath the Gorilla Glass 5 protection lies a fingerprint scanner. On the rear are three cameras: an 8MP ultra-wide shooter with a 120-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro camera. The primary camera features a 64MP Omni vision OV64B sensor, an f/1.8 aperture, and a 6P lens. Because the camera configuration enables OIS+EIS, a feature that is uncommon on Poco smartphones, the F5 Pro is a little more alluring to photographers. Although it boasts a 16MP sensor, the selfie camera in the punch hole can only capture videos in 1080p resolution.

Poco is really happy with the 5000sq.mm. Compared to earlier Poco F smartphones, Liquid Cool VC, a combination of stainless steel vapor chambers and graphite layers, improves heat conductivity by up to 15%. Despite maintaining 67W wired charging and 30W wireless charging, the Poco F5 Pro’s battery is described as having a capacity of 5,160mAh, which is less than the 5,500mAh cell in the Redmi K60. Android 13 is the OS, with MIUI 14 on top.

A brand-new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, which is not just a renamed Snapdragon 778G anymore, powers the regular Poco F5. The device also includes a well-known 6.67-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a high maximum brightness, and a lesser resolution than its more costly sister. Both smartphones have similar camera configurations, and their batteries have a capacity of about 5,000 mAh and allow lightning-quick 67W rapid charging. The F5 Pro’s addition of wireless charging to its feature set is the lone distinction. RAM is either 8GB or 12GB, and storage is 256GB. Although the Poco F5’s resolution is 1080p, it boasts the same size 6.67″ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 64MP unknown primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide device, and a 2MP macro camera make up the back camera configuration. OIS and EIS are still there, however the lack of confirmation of the sensor signals a decrease from the Pro. 16MP resolution and an f/2.45 aperture are listed as the features of the selfie camera. The Poco F5 has a 7.9 mm profile and weighs only 181 grams. The Poco F5’s 5,000 mAh battery can be charged at a 67W rate. Other features include Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, IR blaster, Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top, and NFC.

Conclusion

The Poco F5 Pro appears to be a capable and reasonably priced flagship phone. It has the performance, comes pre-loaded with 256GB of storage, has a flawless display, and does a very decent job at shooting pictures and movies during the day. Although not especially striking at night. The phone is easily surpassed by numerous 2022 flagships, which provide greater hardware overall and extended software support. Despite being a little costly, the current Poco F5 price seems to be sufficient to generate some curiosity. Without many 2023 competitors around, it occupies a nice middle ground between the less priced midrangers and the more expensive ones with premium amenities. The fact that the phone wins in several areas is more significant. The new SD 7+ Gen 2 gives the device performance that is unmatched even by more expensive phones, a great screen with all the HDR certifications, reliable battery life, quick charging, surprising good camera quality, adequate loudspeakers, excellent design, and excellent ergonomics. Having an OIS on the primary camera and being IP53-rated, as well as providing flagship-level haptics, are all plusses. The experience of shooting is somewhat improved.
